Yate has basically grown as a town in two areas. The south side has mainly 2 to 4 bedroom homes, built between the 1960's and 1970's which are therefore larger in size and lower in rental. The north side accommodates studio apartments to 4 bedroom detached homes, built between late 1970's to the present day. The Brimsham Park development is the most recent.

The Four Seasons Shopping Centre

This Shopping Centre is situated in the centre of the town and is a complex of over 100 shops with canopy coverage over the walkways, attractive paving, landscaping, security presence and free car parking which attracts shoppers from a wide area for a pleasant and convenient shopping experience. All the major high street names have shops here including a Tesco and Morrison and B & Q Superstore.

Sport and Recreational Facilities

On the same site as the Four Seasons Shopping Centre is the library and Yate Indoor Leisure Centre, boasting two swimming pools, large sports hall, snooker room, fitness room, bowling greens, the list goes on. A full activity guide can be obtained from the reception. The outdoor complex is situated close to Brimsham Park. Here is an all weather athletics track, all weather pitches for football etc, and several grass pitches.

Evening Entertainment

The are various public houses dotted around Yate and several offer bar snacks. The Fox on North Road, is a family orientated pub and has excellent facilities for children. Chipping Sodbury High Street has a variety of pubs from the traditional Cotswold Inns to wine bars.

There are mother and toddler groups held at Yate Leisure Centre, St. Nicholas Family Centre (Abbotswood), and Yate Town Hall (Station Road).

Filton College of further education can be found in the north east district of Bristol. There are a number of independent schools in the area including Tockington Manor near Rudgway and Silverhill at Winterbourne. The city of Bristol has its own university and medical school.

Transport

There is an excellent bus service that runs around Yate and into Bristol Centre, too many to mention. The trains run from Yate Station to Bristol Temple Meads and Gloucester. If you have your own transport you are within 10 minuets of the M4 and 15 minutes of the M5. To Bristol city centre at peak times can take up to 60 minutes however only 35 minutes at normal times.

Chipping Sodbury

The High Street itself is a very sought after location for rented property as a delightful historic market town. Most accommodation here are character flats above shops or small cottages.

The main housing development is St. Johns Way. The houses range from 1 bed flats to 4 bed detached houses. Being so close to Yate makes all facilities easily accessible.

A frequent bus services runs from Chipping Sodbury to connect with the services from Yate.

Chipping Sodbury Common offers a large open space for walks, etc.
